Which RailLight Is Right For You?
SolLight™ offers two different versions of the RailLight: the RailLight Premium and the RailLight Mini. There are several differences in the design, performance and uses for these different models.
SIZE: The Premium measures 4.5” in top diameter while the Mini measures just 2.5”. Total height on the Premium is 13” while the Mini is 10.5”. The Premium (light with post only, no clamps) weighs around 10 oz. while the Mini weighs 5.5 oz. If you’re tight on space, concerned about weight, or just want a small but intense light source, choose the Mini. If you’re looking for a more versatile and diffused light, choose the Premium.
PERFORMANCE: Both lights are powered by a rechargeable 1400mAh AA NiMH battery that gets its charge from the solar panel. The panel on the Premium is slightly larger than the panel on the Mini, therefore it will charge the battery quicker. You can expect up to 8 hours of light from either RailLight on a full charge (at least 8 hours of direct sunshine on the panel).
FEATURES: The Premium comes with more options than the Mini, including a complete QuickMount™ clamp system that includes a rail mount, transom mount, and wall mount. There is also a 3--way switch that allows you to vary the light: 2 LEDs, 4 LEDs, or OFF. [The 4 LED position gives you brighter light but less battery performance while the 2 LED position will last longer on a charge.] The internal diffuser lens gives a more even and diffused ambient light.
The Mini comes with just a detachable rail clamp. [You can also purchase a complete QuickMount system that will allow you to mount it virtually anywhere.] It has 2 bright white LEDs and an internal reflector that beams a bright spot of light (easily seen up to ¼ mile away).
Both RailLights have a sealed on/off switch located under the hood, as well as a light sensing system that automatically turns the light off whenever there is sufficient light to charge. Both are made with a rust--resistant, 304 stainless steel hood and post. If you’re looking for a slightly larger, more versatile light, choose the Premium. If you just need a small spot--type light (or want one you can quickly detach and use as a flashlight/lantern/torch), choose the Mini.
